Our mission is to create within our children, a love for Judaism through the study of Jewish history, Hebrew, liturgy, Bible, holidays, ethics, customs, Israel, and values; inspire them to embrace their heritage and lead Jewish lives both inside and outside of our Jewish community.
Our creative Project Curriculum will not only provide information to our children but allow for creative, innovative, individual expressions of understanding through the arts. The projects designed by the children are meaningful and relevant to their own lives and also fulfill the objectives within the core curriculum. With the partnership between our Youth and Education Departments, our children are exposed to both formal and informal education techniques that are engaging and fun. Our children will embark on their journey with the guidance of dedicated teachers, who will help create positive impactful Jewish experiences for them in a safe and nurturing environment.
Sunday school begins each week with a family-style morning service with our clergy. Within each grade level, a program is in place to teach specific prayers and blessings appropriate to the student’s level of cognitive development. The prayers and blessings are reinforced on a yearly basis, and new prayers are added each year with the goal of fluency and comprehension.
Students will be evaluated, and follow a self-paced Hebrew reading program to increase fluency and strengthen decoding skills. Each grade has assigned specific Tefillot which are outlined in their Contract Hebrew book. Students will read these prayers for parents, teachers, and clergy to demonstrate mastery. If all of the requirements are fulfilled, students are inducted into our Magen David Honor Society.
