Put Your Values to Work
Reaching out to our community is important to our congregation, as is instilling in our members, and especially our children, a love and responsibility the people in our community. Our programs reflect our Jewish values of caring for and repairing the world by helping those in need. Some of our initiatives include:
- An annual Mitzvah Day where we accomplish numerous charitable efforts, including collecting, sorting, and donating clothes and household items, painting, landscaping, organizing, cleaning, making bagged lunches, and creating gifts for others.
- A composting program with an on-site designated drop-off bin for organic waste.
- An Environmental Voter Project that mobilizes voters in Florida.
- An annual Sun Day Fun Day event that celebrates alternative forms of clean energy and brings together multiple environmental groups.
- Vegan and vegetarian Shabbat dinners
- Ongoing efforts to mitigate climate change and make our communities more resilient to sea level rise.
- Numerous food, school supply, and toiletry drives throughout the year, and a large holiday toy drive for a low-income preschool and a homeless shelter with whom we have longstanding relationships
